Reinhold Friedrich, born in Weingarten/Baden (Germany), has already played on the world’s most famous stages since his initial success at the ARD-Competiton (German TV-Station) in 1986. As a soloist, he played with orchestras like the Berliner Barocksolisten, La Stagione Frankfurt, the Chamber Orchestras of Zurich and Vienna. Since the foundation of the Lucerne Festival in 2003, he is the permanent solo-trumpetist of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra – conducted by Claudio Abbado until 2014, now by Riccardo Chailly – and he is the artistic director of the Lucerne Festival Brass Band.

Wim Van Hasselt is a Belgian musician, currently based in Switzerland. He has been invited as a soloist with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, the Sophia Philharmonic and the Budapest Festival Orchestra amongst others, appearing at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Beethovenhalle Bonn, the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall. For many years he was a member of the trumpet section of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam. Prior to this he held the same position with the Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin. As a guest he performed with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra. As Professor for trumpet at the University of Music Freiburg, the Norwegian Academy of Music Oslo and coach at the European Union Youth Orchestra he enthusiastically transmits his passion for music to the next generation.
